Community groups in Wheatpieces are invited to apply for funding that could help to improve local sports facilities.

As new homes have been built in the area, developers have contributed money to Tewkesbury Borough Council. This funding will be invested back into community playing pitches and changing rooms.

The council is now asking community groups to submit an expression of interest for projects that would benefit people living in Wheatpieces.

Groups will need to show how their project meets a need created by the area’s growing population and new housing developments. The deadline for expressions of interest is 23 October 2026.

Councillor Deborah Harwood, Lead Member for Community Development and Engagement, said: “More than £300,000 is available to support sports facilities in the Wheatpieces area. This funding can be used to create new pitches or improve existing pitches and changing facilities.

“We would like to hear from local groups who can show how their project will help to meet the needs of current and future residents. If you think your project could benefit the community, please get in touch.”

To find out more or submit an expression of interest, visit the council’s website or contact a Community and Place Development Officer on 01684 295010.
