As Tewkesbury Borough Council’s systems have been safely brought back online following its recent cyber incident, residents and businesses are thanked for their patience and reminded that it will take time for officers to get through the backlog of work.

Alistair Cunningham OBE, Chief Executive of Tewkesbury Borough Council, said: “I’d like to thank all our residents and businesses who have patiently waited while our IT teams have been safely and securely brought back online.

“I’m pleased to confirm, once again, that no data was lost as a result of the incident. It is important to point out that, while thorough security checks were carried out and officers were redeployed to address the incident, they were unable to progress their normal work. This has inevitably resulted in backlogs.

“To reassure our communities, our officers are proactively progressing matters halted by the cyber incident, and will shortly resume assessing planning applications and related work, but I’d ask for continued patience as officers begin to go through this workload.”

Residents and businesses who have been affected by planning matters such as the processing of land search requests can view the council’s cyber incident FAQs.

Planning Committee will next meet on Tuesday,15 October and will be the first council meeting following the incident.

Officers have also identified applications which were subject to public consultation during the incident, and residents will be re-consulted on these applications now the Public Access planning system has been restored.

As the council now has access to its email addresses ending @tewkesbury.gov.uk, the temporary @recovery.tewkesbury.gov.uk will no longer be used.
