The High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) was funded by Historic England and Tewkesbury Borough Council to deliver, among other things, grants to conserve historic buildings in the traditional town centre and a range of public realm enhancements.

These included repaving of Warder’s Alley and Post Office Lane, re-surfacing of Smith’s Lane, new riverside railings at St. Mary’s Lane and Prior’s Court, installation of a drinking water fountain in Oldbury Road car park and new pedestrian signage and interpretation across the town centre.

The HSHAZ also commissioned the first phase of a town centre masterplan. The draft document is undergoing review and a public consultation will be launched as soon as possible.
