Tewkesbury Culture is a consortium of local arts and culture groups, funded by Historic England to work alongside the rest of the HSHAZ programme.

Its aims are to entertain and inform visitors and residents about the links between Tewkesbury’s heritage and its contemporary cultural life.

Current members of the group include Alleycats, Christmas Lights’ Committee, John Moore Museum, Priors Park Neighbourhood Project, Roses Theatre (Chair), Rotary Club, Tewkesbury Abbey, Tewkesbury’s Big Weekend, Tewkesbury in Bloom, Tewkesbury Library, Tewkesbury Museum, Tewkesbury School, Tewkesbury Traders’ Association and Tewkesbury Town Council. It is supported by Tewkesbury Borough Council.

In February 2021, Tewkesbury Culture was awarded £80,000 by the High Street Heritage Action Zone Cultural Programme to undertake a four-year programme of work that includes:

  • supported development of the membership of the consortium
  • creating a four-year cultural strategy for the consortium and town
  • a research and development project to understand how to improve culture for young people in the town and area
  • establishing a biennial art festival to showcase the Borough’s immense artistic talent.
