Dyslexic?

Viewing a beautiful old building makes most of us take a deep breath and wonder out loud how on earth people managed to create it without all the machines and techniques we are used to in our contemporary world.

Traditional craft skills, practised over hundreds of years are still alive and well in the hand of 21st century crafts people. And in lives surrounded by technology, more and more of us are opting to try out these traditional skills, either as a hobby or as a career.

Events looking at the use of traditional materials have been delivered with Tewkesbury Church of England Primary School, a lime plaster experience day with year 9 pupils at Tewkesbury School and a photographic exhibition of old photos of Tewkesbury alongside demonstrations of traditional signwriting and the use of lime mortar. Historic England undertook research into the origins of three buildings in the town centre and gave illustrated talks about their findings.
