There has been an Amber warning of rain for many areas of the country including South West England and the West Midlands.

The warning is currently active and started at: 08:16 BST on Mon 23 September and is in force until 21:00 BST on Mon 23 September.

Heavy rain is expected to produce some flooding and travel disruption.

  •   Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  •   Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
  •   Homes and businesses may be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  •   Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely
  •   A possibility that some communities will be cut off by flooded roads

Where to get sandbags:

If your home is at risk of flooding you can get sandbags from your local town or parish council office. Additional stocks are available from our depot on Lower Lode Lane, Tewkesbury.

Our priority is for the most vulnerable and officers will be making welfare visits to affected areas. Ubico are also on hand to deliver sandbags as required.

It is vitally important to note that our emergency sandbags are designed to protect doorways only. Laying sandbags across driveways, gardens and garages will only mean stocks are depleted.
