The Met Office forecast as at 05:00 today:

Headline:

Mainly dry today, then turning wetter and windier tomorrow.

Today:

Often dry and cloudy for many with a chance of a few brief showers. Occasional sunny intervals developing, these perhaps more prolonged later. Feeling cooler than on Monday. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Most places remaining dry overnight with clear spells but a few showers remain possible, these mostly in coastal regions. Winds becoming light. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Wednesday:

Bright spells and showers during the morning then more general periods of rain through the afternoon, heavy at times. Turning windier. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Unsettled and blustery with heavy thundery showers on Thursday. Cloudier with showery rain in places on Friday then chilly overnight. Many places fine on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency says “Further local inland flooding is possible but not expected widely across England on Tuesday and Wednesday. Properties could flood and there could be travel disruption.”
