Community groups in Tewkesbury Borough are invited to express their interest in funding allocated to the delivery of developing or enhancing community sports facilities in Bishop’s Cleeve parish.

As a result of new housing development in Bishop’s Cleeve – under Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 – Tewkesbury Borough Council has collected contributions from developers to invest back into local community projects, specifically to develop or improve outdoor playing pitches and changing facilities, or indoor sports facilities within the parish.

Community groups across the borough can now express an interest in this section 106 funding for capital projects. Expressions of interest will need to highlight that a need in the community has arisen as a direct result of new housing development in Bishop’s Cleeve, and how this need will be met.

Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Lead Member for the Community, Councillor Cate Cody, said: “Over £65,000 has been put aside for sports and playing facilities in Bishop’s Cleeve parish to support the health and wellbeing of the community.

“We would love to hear from local groups who can demonstrate how they can meet the needs of current and future residents in the area, so please do get in touch.”

Not-for-profit community organisations located within Tewkesbury Borough are eligible to apply, including registered charities, constituted community groups, amateur sports clubs, non-profit social enterprises and town and parish councils.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 31 January 2024.
