New vacancy with Counter Fraud and Enforcement Unit
An exciting opportunity to join the Counter Fraud and Enforcement Unit (CFEU) as an Investigation and Enforcement Officer is now available.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of tenants living in private rented housing. The successful applicant will join the CFEU and work across local authorities in Gloucestershire.
The CFEU provides services to several councils in relation to fraud risk, investigation and criminal enforcement. Investigation and enforcement officers assist the regulatory teams with investigation and prosecution of offences within the councils’ jurisdiction.
This role will have a specific focus on assessing and investigating potential breaches and offences by landlords, using enhanced powers to deal with cases including illegal eviction and harassment, rental bidding, and discrimination in renting.
You will be employed by Cotswold District Council, however, the CFEU is a shared service and you will be working on behalf of three of the partner councils – Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Borough Councils and Stroud District Council. You will work closely with officers in the private sector housing teams of each council.
You will be required to support the CFEU in achieving its aims, with a strong focus on assisting each individual council to meet new statutory duties and responsibilities under the Renters Rights Act 2025.
The CFEU offers hybrid working – it has offices in council buildings in Cheltenham, Cirencester, Coleford, Stroud, and Tewkesbury. You will be based at your nearest location, but will be expected to travel as part of the role.
Permanent role, £35,611 per annum.
Closing date: 7 July 2026.
