Tewkesbury Borough Council is launching a new grant scheme to help businesses impacted by the extension to Stage 3 of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

The new Extended Restrictions Discretionary Grant, which will be open for applications from 7 July – 25 July 2021, is designed to assist businesses that still cannot open during this period, or those that can open but continue to be impacted. The grant will target:

  • Businesses in the travel and tourism sector (including group travel, travel agents and tour operators)
  • Hospitality businesses whose main function is to provide a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink
  • Wedding, nightclub, theatre, events, wholesaler and brewery industries
  • English language schools
  • Freelance and mobile businesses (including caterers, events, hair, beauty and wedding-related businesses)

The scheme will be open to both those that operate from business rated premises and those that do not.

Councillor Rob Bird, leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council said: “Our business grants team is continuing to work hard, helping businesses to get the financial assistance they need, especially now that Stage 3 restrictions have been extended. This extra funding is crucial to enabling business owners to cover costs for a while longer until they can get back to normal trading conditions once restrictions are lifted.”
