Tewkesbury Borough has not suffered as much as some of our neighbours during Storm Bert this weekend, but that isn’t to say that it’s all clear yet, either. Residents travelling by rail this morning will know that Great Western Rail services across their network are severely disrupted. While the weather today is fair, river levels are still rising, and flood warnings are in force on the Severn and Avon with flooding expected in riverside locations across the borough.  Our website will be updated as appropriate throughout the flooding event and advice and guidance is available here: Flooding advice and information – Tewkesbury Borough Council.

Flood wardens, council officers and Ubico are out and about making welfare visits and delivering sandbags to our most vulnerable. Our social media channels continue to amplify messages from the Environment Agency, Gloucestershire Constabulary, The Met Office and more in respect of river levels, road closures and weather forecasts.

Sandbags

If you see floodwater rising in your area, you can collect sandbags from your town or parish council. In Tewkesbury, you can visit either the Borough Council’s depot at Lower Lode Lane or the Town Council’s offices on the High Street has empty bags which can be filled at the hoppers here and here.
