Financial support for businesses affected by flooding
Businesses significantly impacted by the recent Storm Henk flooding can now apply for financial support.
The Business Recovery Grant offers eligible Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) grants of up to £2,500 per affected business. A SME is defined as a business which:
- Has fewer than 250 employees; and
- Has a turnover of less than £50m or a balance sheet total less than £43m.
Eligible businesses include those that were impacted directly or indirectly by the flooding between Tuesday, 2 and Friday, 12 January 2024 – for instance, those that experienced flood damage to their property, equipment or stock, or had restricted access for customers, suppliers or staff, resulting in a loss of trade.
Businesses can also apply for 100% relief from business rates for a minimum of three months, if flood water entered their property or the flooding significantly impacted their ability to trade.
Leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council, Councillor Richard Stanley said: “The launch of the Business Recovery Grant and business rates relief is welcome news, extending financial assistance to businesses that have been affected by flooding following Storm Henk. I urge any business from Tewkesbury Borough that has been impacted to make an application.
“I would also like to encourage people to use the local businesses who are very much open for business – so please do show them your support.”
