Navigating our journey through Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) to deliver for our communities.

Our Council Plan was initially designed as a six-year blueprint to guide our efforts and deliver meaningful outcomes. However, the introduction of LGR and devolution has meant we need to revisit our priorities and shift to an ambitious three-year timeline. This adjustment ensures that while we navigate this new path, we will continue to meet the needs of our residents, businesses, and communities effectively.

We continue to be one of the fastest growing areas in the country (source: ONS), and face increasing demand on our services against significant financial challenges. This revised plan reflects a comprehensive internal review of how we deliver services, considers reductions in central government funding, and addresses the complex landscape shaped by LGR and devolution.

Our commitment to transformation is clear as emphasised through our new LGR transition programme, Future Ready. This programme will ensure our services, systems and processes are in the best shape possible as we move towards 2028. We have aligned our goals and objectives with measurable performance indicators, underpinned by data. This helps us to use insights to shape services and fosters a culture of innovation and adaptability.

Engagement remains at the heart of our efforts. We will continue to work in collaboration with our residents, businesses and communities to address the challenges faced by each of the focus areas within this plan.
