Due to the very high temperatures expected next week, waste and recycling collection crews will start their rounds one hour earlier on Monday, 18 July and Tuesday, 19 July.
This change will reduce the time the crews will be out in the extreme heat.
Residents who are due to have their bins collected on either of these days should make sure their bins and food caddies are ready for collection by 6am at the latest.
Once we have a clearer picture of next week’s weather, a further update will be provided if this earlier start time needs to continue past Tuesday.
Cllr Jim Mason, Lead Member for Clean and Green Environment, said: “The safety of our collection crews is of paramount importance. In times of extremely hot weather, it makes sense for them to take steps to avoid the excessive heat as far as possible by starting work earlier than usual.
“Any inconvenience to residents should be minimal and I am sure they will appreciate the reason for this temporary change.”
