Affordable housing is for people who are unable to rent or buy on the open market.  To apply for affordable housing go to the Homeseeker plus website (housing register).

Applying for Council and Housing Association accommodation

Tewkesbury Borough Council is part of the Homeseeker plus Scheme, a choice-based lettings scheme, which is a system for letting social housing that is designed to offer more choice and participation for applicants in selecting a new social rented home.

Properties can be advertised on a daily basis. To make sure that you are able to bid, you should register as soon as possible to allow time for your application to be checked and made active.

How to apply with Homeseeker Plus

There are 5 steps to applying for a home with Homeseeker Plus:

  1. Register with Homeseeker Plus
  2. Banding – You will receive an email or a letter
  3. Look at adverts for homes on the website
  4. Bid for a home you like – You can have up to three bids every week
  5. Offer of a home – The landlord will tell you if you have got the home you wanted

The HomeSwapper service is a user-friendly and free way of finding a home to exchange not just locally but throughout the United Kingdom. Many social housing tenants in Gloucestershire do not pay for this service as we are members of the scheme.
