Community Orchard and Community Growing Grants

Tewkesbury Borough Council had further funding to award to Community Groups who are interested in growing fruit and vegetables for their communities. This fund closed to application on 21 January 2026.
Following the successful planting of nine new community orchards across the Borough through the Coronation Living Heritage Fund in 2024-2025, the Council is pleased to open two grant schemes as follows:
- £3,000 (total grant fund) for three further Community Orchards
- £7,000 (total grant fund) for community fruit and vegetable growing projects, where the produce supplied will have some benefit for the local community
Eligible organisations
You must be a non-profit community organisation – this can include educational establishments, faith groups and all non-profit groups based in communities. You might be a:
- Registered Charity
- Community Interest Company
- Charitable Incorporated Organisation
- Company Limited by Guarantee
- Town/Parish Council
- School
- Early Years Provider
- Faith group
- Residents’ association
- Constituted community group eg. a playgroup or a sports club
You should have management control of land that is open to the public either through owning the land, or having written permission from the landholder with a lease of at least six years.

- Community Orchard funding – up to £1,000 per organisation to establish a new Orchard
- Community Growing projects – up to £2,000 per organisation for community fruit and vegetable growing
Organisations were able to apply to both funds.
Funding timeframe
- Applications closed on at 9am on 21 January 2026
- Decisions will be communicated by 9am on 30 January 2026
- Funds will be transferred as soon as a grant agreement is completed
- Receipts showing that funds have been spent and feedback forms should be returned by 23 March 2026.
