Tewkesbury Borough Council welcomes new chief executive
Alistair Cunningham OBE has come on board as Tewkesbury Borough Council’s new chief executive from 13 June 2022.
Alistair takes over from Mike Dawson who retired on 12 June 2022 after 13 years as chief executive for the borough council.
Alistair previously worked as joint chief executive at Wiltshire Council and as director of a public sector consultancy and programme management company. Alistair says: “I’m incredibly proud to be in the role of chief executive at Tewkesbury Borough Council. It is an ambitious, forward-looking council and I am delighted to have the opportunity of taking it further on its growth journey.”
“I will be looking to lead the council to be one which supports our communities with truly customer-focused services, helping to improve the quality of life for our residents, and ensuring the growth in our area is delivered in a sustainable and planned way.”
Tewkesbury Borough Council’s leader, Councillor Rob Bird, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Alistair Cunningham to the council as our new chief executive. Alistair brings a wealth of knowledge and experience directly relevant to our plans for the future success and prosperity of this area, and the challenges we face.”
Alistair adds: “I’m really looking forward to working with the leader, members, staff and our partners to bring resilience and stability to businesses and communities across Tewkesbury borough. The past two years have been a challenging time for everyone, but, looking forward, I am confident we will achieve great things to support, enhance and regenerate our wonderful borough.”
