Tewkesbury Borough Council has been awarded £60,000 in 2025-26 through the UK Government Rural England Prosperity Fund to help community venues become more energy efficient.

Community organisations such as town and parish councils, village halls, sports clubs and faith groups in eligible areas of Tewkesbury Borough are encouraged to apply for this capital funding for longer term improvements. This could include: cavity wall insulation, solar panels or new lighting systems. It is hoped that these types of projects will enable these buildings to be open and used by more members of the community.

Lead member for Community and Housing, Cllr Alex Hegenbarth, said: “We have seen community buildings across the borough benefit from previous energy efficiency funding. Reductions in their energy bills have helped to keep community buildings open and usable for people in communities across the borough. We hope this new round of funding will enable more community groups to reduce their bills and open for more activities for local residents.”

Potential applicants are invited to contact the Community Funding team and join a webinar to learn about the requirements of the scheme. There are two webinars:

  • Monday 14 July, 6.30 – 7.30pm online
  • Wednesday 16 July, 12 – 1pm online
