Garden waste collections will pause on Monday, 23 December and start again on Tuesday, 7 January 2025. This will allow our collection crews to manage the extra rubbish that gets thrown out in January.
Councillor Sarah Hands, Lead Member for Environmental Services, said: “Please make sure you don’t miss any waste collections over Christmas and New Year by checking these revised dates.
“With all the extra refuse we inevitably create at this time of year, it’s vital we recycle all we can from food waste, extra packaging and treecycling. Check our website if you’re not sure whether something can be recycled or not.
“Gloucestershire Recycles’ Waste Wizard will tell you the various ways you can make use of unwanted household items, whether it’s repairing, recycling or reusing them. You can find out more by visiting gloucestershirerecycles.com/waste-wizard.
“I’m sure I speak for us all when I say a big thank you to our collection crews for their extra hard work over the Christmas period.”
Residents are encouraged to visit the council’s waste and recycling webpage to find more ways to reuse and recycle. Local recycling banks are also listed as well as household recycling centres with the Gloucestershire County Council-run Bishop’s Cleeve site closing for two months from Monday, 22 January for essential repairs and resurfacing works.
