Change at the top for One Legal

One Legal – the shared legal service that provides high quality legal advice to Cheltenham Borough Council, Gloucester City Council, Stroud District Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council – has appointed Shahzia Daya as its new Director.

Shahzia takes up her new role having previously worked as Director of Legal and Monitoring Officer for the West of England Combined Authority. Prior to that, she was Director of Legal and Democratic Services for Bristol City Council.

As One Legal’s most senior lawyer, she will be responsible for building on the team’s distinguished reputation, enhancing the service provided to the four councils and identifying new opportunities for growth.

Discussing her new role, Shahzia said: “It’s a huge privilege to be appointed to this role. My priorities will be to consolidate our commitment to providing our clients with the best possible legal service, and ensure that One Legal becomes the byword for professionalism, excellence and growth.

“I am excited about working with the dedicated One Legal team and look forward to working with them and the councils in providing an award-winning service.”

Chair of One Legal’s Joint Management Liaison Group, Cllr Rowena Hay, said: “Shahzia brings with her many years of experience in the legal profession at the highest level, and I am confident that, under her leadership, One Legal will continue to grow and prosper.
