Alderton Village Hall redevelopment project – community consultation event
A public consultation for the redevelopment of Alderton Village Hall gets underway this Saturday, 28 June.
As a cornerstone of the local community the village hall is a hub for social gatherings, recreational clubs, and a home for the village pre-school. However, with development in recent years it has become clear that the facility needs to change and improve to better serve the needs of the community.
Through public feedback received so far and expert assessments, the Alderton Village Hall Management Committee have started a redevelopment project to modernise the hall, ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
This Saturday, 28 June 10am to 12 noon, the committee is inviting members of the community to get involved with the consultation event, to help shape the future of Alderton Village Hall.
Cllr Alex Hegenbarth, Lead Member for Community and Housing said: “This is an exciting opportunity for local people to have their say and is a great example of how Tewkesbury Borough Council is working effectively with a village hall committee and parish council.
“The Alderton Village Hall is clearly well used and now has the opportunity to be developed and future-proofed, I encourage local residents to attend and share their views.”
Cllr Martin Davies, Chair – Alderton Parish Council added: “Our local residents are very welcome and hopefully with strong community engagement, the redevelopment plan will secure the necessary funding to ensure Alderton Village Hall remains a vibrant, functional space for years to come.”
Attendees can expect refreshments while browsing material outlining the project’s vision. Following the presentations, the design plans will be able to be viewed, and attendees will be able to fill out questionnaires, and chat one-on-one with project leads.
The proposed redesigned hall could bring significant improvements, including:
- A separately accessible lobby, toilet, and kitchenette facilities
- Reconfigured space to accommodate multiple users concurrently
- Enhanced acoustics in the main hall
- Energy efficiency upgrades, including solar photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps
- Improved accessibility with disabled access and facilities
- Modern audio-visual system, including a hearing loop
- New kitchen and bar facilities
- Updated doors, windows, and finishes
- Exterior enhancements and landscaping to enrich the local environment.
The village hall redevelopment plans will also look to include how it might be used as a work from home space, how it could accommodate functions and how it might support local businesses offering services like well-being therapies, chiropody and more.
