Junction 9 and A46 (Ashchurch) improvements

The M5 Junction 9 and A46 (Ashchurch) Transport Scheme is a proposal to develop a new or reconfigured M5 junction near Tewkesbury and re-route the existing A46 around Ashchurch to Teddington Hands roundabout. A wide variety of route options are currently being considered and technically assessed for suitability.

Strategic and Local Plan (SLP)

The Strategic and Local Plan (SLP) is a review of the Joint Core Strategy (JCS) which was adopted in December 2017. It’s a joint plan with Cheltenham Borough and Gloucester City councils which sets out how the local areas will be developed between 2011 and 2031. It sets out the planning policy and site allocations to deliver development needs, whilst protecting the natural and built environment.

The area identified for the garden town will be considered for development in the SLP.

Tewkesbury High Street Heritage Action Zone

The High Streets Heritage Action Zones scheme, backed by government funding, aims to help with the recovery of local high streets, from regenerating historic buildings to helping to engage local communities through art and cultural projects.

Over £1m investment is available to Tewkesbury following its successful bid to be part of the Heritage Action Zones project there are projects underway to enhance the public realm and upper floor renovations to bring them back into use as well as provide grants for improvements to shop fronts and façades.
